2025 National Week of Action
October 18-26
Education is STILL a Human Right
We’re back for the 7th year and the fight is more urgent than ever.
Dignity in Schools Campaign California is proud to once again be part of the National Week of Action a powerful, collective moment where youth, parents, organizers, educators, and community members across the country raise our collective voices, Organize our communities, and rise up together to demand:
End the School-to-Prison Pipeline!
This year’s theme, Education is STILL a Human Right, calls us to name the truth:
The attacks on public education aren’t new. They’re part of a long, deliberate strategy to criminalize, privatize, and erase our communities.
From book bans to police in schools, from surveillance tech to charter expansion, we are witnessing a coordinated effort to undermine education as a public good.
-
- We are not letting it happen quietly.
- We are organizing, resisting, and reimagining.
- We are building power across movements and communities.
- We are saying that Education is STILL a Human Right.
What We’re Embodying at DSC CA for Week of Action 2025
At DSC CA, we are showing up to the Week of Action 2025 with clarity, purpose, and deep-rooted vision. We know that schools are not neutral spaces, they are and have always been sites of both struggle and possibility. Public education remains one of the last symbolic and material common goods, a space where collective life is shaped, contested, and reimagined.
Schools are where oppressed communities have fought not just for access, but for dignity, civil rights, belonging, and liberation. And while education has too often been weaponized to sort, track, and control, especially for Black, Indigenous, disabled, immigrant, and working-class youth, we also know that schools have been reclaimed, again and again, as spaces of hope, healing, and collective power.
This year, we are lifting up the truth that schools are powerful hubs of community life, where relationships are built across race, class, and age. We’re also naming education as a critical site of social welfare, where youth don’t just learn, they access food, healthcare, and safety.
At DSC CA, we are holding all of this together.
We are resisting the forces trying to turn schools into marketplaces, carceral zones, or tools of indoctrination.
And we are reimagining schools as centers of care, resistance, and radical possibility.
Because education is STILL a human right.
And because schools are still worth fighting for.

Movement-Building Strategy Exchange with DSCCA Parent Organizing
“What Really Matters for the STPP Movement Under the Second MAGA Presidency… And Where Should It Go?”
Activate with us as we amplify parent organizing and center parent leader voices as we shift from ME to WE to build solidarity and power to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline. We are intentionally creating a strong, safe, and supportive parent leader exchange to collectively deepen understanding of the organizing principle, “Me to We”, and empowering parent leaders to resist tokenization by the system.
This year, DSC California is hosting a full-day Movement-Building Strategy Exchange with DSC California Parent Organizers, an intentional space to get grounded, get real, and get visionary. This gathering is about collective strategy rooted in truth, urgency, and possibility. Together, we’ll come to terms with this political moment by naming the contradictions, blindspots, and hard truths we’re facing under a second MAGA presidency. We’ll push beyond business as usual and explore unorthodox strategies that could actually shift the direction of the school-to-prison pipeline (STPP) movement. And we’ll work to build trust and alignment around what DSCCA can take on as a statewide formation, identifying the gaps, openings, and opportunities that demand bold, coordinated action.
This convening is about possibility. It’s about building movement muscle for the long haul. And it’s about centering the leadership, brilliance, and political clarity of parents, who have always been on the frontlines of this fight.
